What it is, how it works, where we're rigorous, and where we're still earning it. If your question isn't here, ask us.
The basics
Is this just another personality test?
No — and that's the whole point. Personality tests describe one person and stop, usually by sorting them into a box. Frequency does two things they don't: it scores you on six continuous dimensions instead of a four-letter type, and it reads the relationship between two people — how you'll actually work together, where you'll grind, and what to do about it.
What are the six dimensions?
Directness (how you lead interactions), Cadence (how much communication you need), Tempo (how fast you move), Structure (how much process you want), Candor (how you take hard feedback), and Attunement (how you read the room). Each is a 0–100 spectrum — there's no good or bad end, only where you sit and what it means.
How long does it take?
About fifteen minutes. No proctor, no certification, no homework. Most people say it's the rare assessment that feels less like a test and more like someone finally asking the right questions.
Who is it for?
Founders and owner-operators making key hires and trying to understand the team they're building — usually without an HR department. If you've ever hired someone who was perfect on paper and a grind to work with, Frequency is built for exactly that gap.
How it works
What do I actually get?
First, your own profile — your six scores, a named archetype, and a plain-language read of how you operate, free and yours to keep. Then, when you add a specific person, a Resonance Report: a 0–100 compatibility read, the friction points named, and a Day-1 operating manual for the pairing.
Can you compare two people who've never met?
Yes. Each person takes Frequency on their own, and the engine reads the two profiles against each other — so you can see how a new hire will mesh with you (or your team) before day one, not after.
Is it really “compatibility,” or just similarity?
Real compatibility. Some dimensions work best when two people align (communication rhythm), others when they complement (one leads, one builds the system). A naive “how similar are you” score gets that backwards — Frequency uses a different fit model per dimension.
Hiring & consent
Is the Friction Forecast a way to screen people out?
No. It's a fit & onboarding aid that informs a human decision — it never passes, fails, ranks, or auto-rejects anyone. The candidate opts in, keeps a profile they value, and the call stays entirely yours. We deliberately don't build it as a selection gate.
Does the candidate have to consent?
Always. Nobody is read without taking it themselves, and everyone keeps their own profile whether or not they get the role. We never profile people from scraped data or behind their backs.
Is it legal to use in hiring?
Frequency is decision support, not a validated selection instrument, and you should treat it that way — as one input that informs a human decision, never the sole basis for one. It is not designed or validated as an EEOC-compliant screening tool, and we'll always say so plainly.
Science & validity
How do I know this isn't a horoscope?
Two ways. Every dimension is anchored to named, published psychology — not pop-folklore. And the scoring is fully deterministic: the same answers always produce the same profile, byte for byte. There's no mood, no luck, no drift. (Consistency isn't the same as proof it predicts outcomes — see the next answer.)
Has it been validated to predict hiring outcomes?
We're transparent here: the method is construct-grounded and deterministic, and people find it strikingly accurate as self-insight. Longitudinal, outcome-validated evidence is our roadmap, and we won't claim predictive validity before we've earned it. If you need a tool with decades of published selection validity for high-volume hiring, that's a different category — and we'll tell you so.
Is it scientifically “better” than DISC or Predictive Index?
Different, not strictly “better” on every axis. We use continuous dimensions instead of type-boxes and we read the relationship rather than just the individual — which they don't. But Predictive Index, for one, has more published validity research than we do today, and we say so on our comparison page.
Pricing & privacy
Is my own profile really free?
Yes — the full individual Frequency profile is free forever, and it's genuinely yours to keep and share. You only pay when you want to read the chemistry between two people.
What does “workspace-based, not per-seat” mean?
Teams pricing is a flat workspace fee for a headcount band (≤15 or ≤40), not a charge per person. Adding someone — or mapping one more pairing — never bumps your bill. It's designed so you read every relationship, not just the cheap ones.
What do you do with my data?
We use your responses to build your profile and the pairings you choose to run — nothing else. We don't sell your data, we don't scrape, and you can export or delete your profile anytime. More on our privacy & consent page.
Still have a question?
We answer in plain language, and we'd rather tell you Frequency isn't right for you than oversell it.
